Quincy Junior College Basketball Provides Great Opportunities

The Quincy College basketball program has completed an outstanding season, wrapping up with a remarkable record of 22-4 and earning a national ranking of 11th. For the second consecutive year, the team proudly claimed the title of Region XXI runners-up in New England.

Under the steadfast leadership of Head Coach Doug Scott, who has been at the helm since the 2017-2018 season, the program boasts an impressive overall record of 132 wins and 48 losses—an impressive 73% winning percentage over seven seasons.

Coach Scott, alongside Associate Head Coach Kenny Nguyen, recognizes the critical role junior college basketball plays in the development of student-athletes. Their efforts have helped 15 athletes’ transition to four-year programs, with 12 of those advancing to compete at the scholarship level (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NAIA). This year, six sophomores are on the lookout for new opportunities, with three already securing full scholarships from NCAA Division II and NAIA programs.

Junior college offers a unique environment for student-athletes to continue their personal and athletic development while simultaneously focusing on academics. With smaller institutions providing accessible resources such as tutoring and comprehensive student life balance, Quincy College serves as an ideal launching pad for those aiming to further their education and athletic careers without the burden of significant debt.

While victories are significant, the ultimate success lies in sending student-athletes off with robust financial aid packages and opportunities for continued growth at the four-year level. At Quincy College, we understand that the journey doesn’t end here; it’s just the beginning.
